hi guys im new to this forum and have just bought a 10month old greyhound cross whippit. im wanting to start working it but dont no wat best way to train it and how to go about it some help please thanks tom

just start bringing him out the countryside in the daytime and get it used to you and gates,wires,cows,ditches etc and coming back to you when you call it,bits of cheese might persuade it.buy a lamp and you and the dog go out(or with someone else who lamps)on a windy night and shine around for a pair of eyes and walk right up to it,just let the dog see the rabbit when he runs keep the dog on the lead,hel soon get interested.they naturally want to chase small moving things it will soon click.youl need a slip lead when you think hes ready to run,(lead ran through between collar and neck and hold the two loose ends)just pull one end of the lead and then the fun starts

thanks mate this is a great help but i found out that this dog was full of parvo and with my other dogs i had to get rid got tuck right round the bend my own fault to be honest but im after another one im really interested in this and want to have a good go at it!
