BEEN THINKING

going to take up digging in a year or so when i leave home.

 

just asking is there anything i should do now whilst ive got the time like read books ect if so can you reccomend some good ones for starting up ???

 

thinking of getting a good patterdale off cousin, i also know its hard work can you state what might go wrong whilst out on a dig.

 

anything would be nice, cheers in advance

make sure you want to do it first and get out with a few experienced men offer as much help as you can , carrying spades, walking the dogs, let them see you want to learn dont be loud and messy your not just out for a laugh your out to work and dont be afraid to get stuck in with the digging if you could get a season or two with proper men you will be set they could help you with your dog and give it the best chance of learning off there dogs dont be in a rush to get out digging without them and you will do ok atb good luck :victory:

Nothing is better than experience but a good book is David Harcombe's THE WORLD OF THE WORKING TERRIER, that mans an ambassidor for terrier work and to follow his attitude towards digging, terriers and your quarry is only a good thing.
