gnipper 6,612
Strange that you both have dogs from the same place that scream??? and that means what exactly???? Have you never seen a dog with cramp before?? It's nothing to do with breedingin mines case it was a bit of cramp that's settled now!!! I was wondering that too mate. A couple of points: there is nothing wrong with my pups breeding in case thats what your on about and Cooper and myself are not from the same place. Another point: If you cant be helpfull please be quiet. Another point: I was suggesting that it could possibly be something thats inherited as i've seen things online before about hancocks having genetic problems before (I think it was heart complaints though) so if you can't take potentionally helpfull suggestions then please avert your fingers from the keyboard. vanquo 2
I have a Whippet pup at the moment that does this, I think it's just growing pains as they grow so fast at that age. Speaking of dreams, my old lurcher would wake up the entire house most nights. Running full pelt in his sleep barking with his mouth shut. Still used to scare me to death waking up to that noise at 3am even after 12 years Quote Link to post

Lol! dogs definately dream how else do you explain small yips an the legs goin like f*ck i have seen it in all my dogs not so much as they get older but up to at least three. i piss myself when my current young lurcher does its hilarious the noises he makes. who really knows what they think about when asleep. did he cry when 1st seperated from his dam as he may be re living the trauma. think he will probs grow out of it and all the best with the pup. skycat 6,174
Right, something has happened to traumatize the pup and he's reliving it in his sleep> my old dog Rattis had meningitis when she was 6 months old, was in the vet's for a week on drips etc. To this day, and from the moment she came back from the vets she will gallop like mad in her sleep, yelping as though she is trying to run away from something> when I wake her you can see the fear in her eyes: the rest of the time she is as fine as an 11 year old arthritic lurcher can be. 'Nother tale: lurcher pup of 5 weeks got out of the yard (escape artist)went under some leaning boards one day, toppled the lot and got squashed (not dangerously as far as physical damage goes) but for weeks afterwards he screamed and hollared every time he went to sleep: grew out of it at about 4 months old. So yes, dogs can suffer from traumatic stress just like people: could be your pup was realy scared by something when he was tiny: just keep reassuring him and make sure that nothing nasty happens to him: and make sure that where he sleeps is totally safe: like he can't get tripped over or trodden on etc etc. Quote Link to post

When i first got him he whined for a couple of nights but that normal. Maybe my terriers have scared him at some point? They do get on really well and play together but its the only possible traumatic event i can think of. Quote Link to post
all.rounder 3
i have a dog that yelps, growls and barks sometimes when he is asleep. when he is doing this his feet are going 90 like he is chashing something in his sleep.. he has done this since he was a pup and still does it.. i think its just basic dreamin as when he wakes he is quiet and does not seem to suffer from any kind of cramp. regards SS my bitch dose the same.their only dreaming Quote Link to post
