Screaming its head off!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Iv got a border/beardie x grey puppy. He is 10 weeks old and he SOMETIMES screams like f**k, its like iv stood on his foot while asleep. This is something that he doesnt do every time hese asleep, maybe a couple of times a week but when he does do it its bloody loud! When he does i wake him up and give him a cuddle and talk reassuringly and he stops screaming pretty much straight away and calms down and is asleep again within a minute or so. The only things i can think of is either growing pains or nightmares! What do you guys think?

I had a simaler problem with my dog when he was 18 months old!! He would randomly yelp for extended periods mainly when I was driving so I couldn't see what was the problem!! Turned out he was getting bad cramp in his leg so I massaged it everyday for a while and haven't even thought about it until you posted this!! Maybe cramping up just a thought!! All the best cooper

Yes i had a bitch that used to get cramps, especially after a hard day.Not sure dogs have night mares, but if they do what would it be about.

Strange that you both have dogs from the same place that scream???

and that means what exactly???? Have you never seen a dog with cramp before?? It's nothing to do with breedingin mines case it was a bit of cramp that's settled now!!!

I was wondering that too mate. A couple of points: there is nothing wrong with my pups breeding in case thats what your on about and Cooper and myself are not from the same place.

Another point: If you cant be helpfull please be quiet.

i have a dog that yelps, growls and barks sometimes when he is asleep.

when he is doing this his feet are going 90 like he is chashing something in his sleep..

he has done this since he was a pup and still does it..

i think its just basic dreamin as when he wakes he is quiet and does not seem to suffer from any kind of cramp.

Cheers cooper. Yeah it might be but he stops almost as soon as i wake him up! I did think he saw laying to close to the radiator and the pipe was to hot but a few times hese done it while nowhere near the radiator or the pipes.

I don't know how or why but I read from a credible source that high temperature (fever) causes hallucinations in people and a friend of mine's kid kept having terrible nightmares, she kept waking up screaming and was so bad that she was scared to go to sleep, slept with some religious medal to "protect" her. But during the day she was always warm, went around in a T-shirt in all weather but when she went to bed she would wear socks tucked into pjs and had a duvet and blanket over the top. So they cooled her down at night and it helped. It didn't totally stop it but I think she was so anxious about going to sleep by then that this might have made it persist for a bit.

So maybe he is too warm? Try throwing a bucket of water over him next time he does it.

Only joking

Might dunk him in a bucket of ice, see if that shuts him up! Lol!
