vanquo 2
I'd always go to a vet for this provided you can find a decent one that won't charge a fortune. Seen some right ballsups with people doing DIY declawing in the past. My old lurcher had 3 inch scars running up both lower front legs, I presume the guy that had him before me tore them out with pliers Quote Link to post
littlefish 573
Before anyone takes pliers to their dog....PLEASE know the difference between the dew claw nail and the dew claw digit. Pups can have the digit removed at a few days old, for older dogs it is a proper operation to be carried out by a vet! Quote Link to post
scotty2306 37
bite them off or cut with sharp sterilised scissors as soon as they reach 3 days old make sure you get behind the little ball bit, they will squeek once or twice then thats it no more trouble, ive only had one burst dewclaw in 2 full seasons with 2 dogs so i dont find there a problem really but would rather them be removed Quote Link to post
runningdogloopy 0
My whippet dog caught his the other night while he was out working, not bad enough to require vet assistance but i phoned up to enquire about having them removed about £120.00 he is going in to have them done i agree its the best thing for them.
