just wondering, as i'm relatively new to snaring, :icon_redface:

can you set snares in/out of rabbit holes?

i watched old ways of the poacher and he showed snares being set inside rabbit holes and he got a few that way?

but i've been told by other people not to set in/out of any rabbit holes, just runs. :hmm:

any ideas?

cheers :notworthy:

You could but won't catch many, they should be set on runs as the rabbits are moving faster on the runs. They are more cautious when going in/out holes or through fences unless being chased etc.

i see, great advice mate, so a fence snare would be about as much use as one set over a hole/ in a hole?

and is it true that when they are travelling in pairs/ rather than on their own, they are much less cautious so can be snared easier?

cheers mate atb.

I usually have a few along the fence as well as out in the runs, usually get them on the fence on thier way back in....guess they get spooked and bolt..

rabbits don't need o be bolting to be caught in a snare, you get them when they are hopping along normally. if you get into snaring i would get woodgas dvd its full of great info and shows you how to make and set all your snaring kit
