fieldsman 51
You've probably already seen me post a picture of my wifes dog borzoi first x gh I was dead against keeping her due to the size but she turned out to be a cracking dog she covers ploughing faster than anything I have ever seen. she can't stick like a saluki but shes a good 3 min dog with an amazing strike launching herself through the air she is surely a sight to see. I've taken her out with well known dogmen and they were literally gob smacked at her speed and stike. She is currently broken down about 15 days in and we have been toying with the idea of putting her to a working whippet to bring the size down a bit, not this time but possibly next year. A small saluki may be better but I don't own one as I have whippets it seems to be a logical choice and I have already been advised of this cross by Tony Smith of Leic's famed for his merlin and eve lines. Your thoughts/comments would be appreciated it would be handy to know what sort of interest they would generate before going ahead. Both are genuine single handed dogs Quote Link to post
chartpolski 23,956
Those "Windhounds" from the U.S. are basicaly Whippet x Borzoi; good lookers, but haven't a clue if they are any use for working ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
steveS.Yorks 161
If both dogs do the job i cant see why not? probably turn out similar to a Saluki x whippet/grey anyway, and theres a lot who swear by them. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
I'd be interested, depending on the sire. Putting a Sal/whippet x over her might be interesting. Keep us posted anyway. Cheers, Jai. Quote Link to post

Hows the lad going to breed shite from 2 single handed dogs? Nobodys saying "go out and start breeding Borzoi x's this lads got one thats does it and hes thinking of breeding this ONE bitch, nothing wrong with breeding from tested dogs no matter whats in them imo. And last but not least hes had the sence to come on and get various opinions before breeding her. Quote Link to post
