waidmann 105
ther was a thread a few days ago about this(entering young dogs). flick through those and sort the sound from the bull bud ) i would think if given the opportunity your dog would be ready(only you will know if he is "mature" enough) does he go to ground? has he seen fox above ground? ratting experiance (this helps to build confidence)? waidmann Quote Link to post

YIS AW. if it was mine id be administiring a lead injection mate,a dog at 2 years old and supposed to have had 8 previous digs should be well on the way to becoming something of use,so long as he entered and saw the job through till youve broke through to him without the in and out problem you described in the 1st post i feel,no offence to you,but its just not gonna make it as a earth dog in my opinion, some dogs just havent got it in them, when the tough gets going some dogs even if bred from the best can fail miserably, happens to us all ,hows it bred?,if its bred from the right stuff at least your edging your bets a little further towards getting something of use to ground, but even then nothing is set in stone [bANNED TEXT],no guarantees in this game regards Edited March 22, 2010 by moi654321 Quote Link to post
Attack Fell Terrier 864
Hi all, I have a 2 years old Russell. When will it start working a fox? Shall I wait another season? thanks, AW I wouldn't bother allowing any terrier to go to ground unless you are with someone who is experienced if I was you mate. I'm not trying to act like an asshole but to ask the question you have you don't sound like someone that's very experienced with terriers to me. There's nothing wrong with that, We've all got to start somewhere and I certainly do not know it all, but I've learnt something new every time I've been out, and that has mostly been down to digging with people that have got quite a bit of experience under their belt. Besides that your terrier doesn't sound to me like its cut out for earthwork unfortunately. Best of luck though mate. Quote Link to post
