It's interesting that quite a few will not entertain them, in some cases it is perhaps down to bad entering but in many cases the dogs just don't have it in them.

 

I wonder if it down them being almost exclusively bred for hares or perhaps it is the show breeding behind many UK Salukis?

 

It is a strange one because many country of origin Salukis are used on Foxes, jackal and wolves.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These last two dogs take upwards of 40 foxes every winter

i cant belive you run pups on fox to be fair,thats one sure way to ruin a pup any one else think 9 months old is to young ???

hedz31 sometimes it just happens when your bushing and you have no control over it,while out bushing rabbits in the 80s I had a 3/4 collie/grey dog was 9mts old that nailed its first,never looked back after that,alway's had the knack of pinning them without getting many bites,its not about how old,some dogs just have it from the off ,other's never get there properly no matter what you do,atb,wirralman

i have a saluki greyhound and he retrives them as often as you'll show him them. i think he would kill am his self if it wasnt for the ban lol

yes mate ive had it happen before but even if it did happen accidently i would still hold a dog back till it was older i wouldnt slip him again thats just mt opinion it doesnt mean its the right opinion

if there screamin n the slip an the other dog has it under control why not let it go if it wants to have a chew let it have one, never spoilt a dog yet doin it this way an intend on on keep on doin it

like i said mate just my opinion,i have seen young dogs ruined this way and if you feel your pups up to it thats upto you, i have a wheaten/grey pup the same age am sure she would steam in, infact i am 100% certain she would but i am in no rush and will not let her go till shes that bit older ive never ran a dog on one till there over 12 months at the very least its just my way doesnt mean its the right way fella

yea hes a good strong size.i bet if entered correctly they shouldnt have any probs as long as they are mature enough and prepared to take the odd nip,pre ban,and not be put off,with the half cross around the 18 month mark maybe .i like saluki crosses,iv a saluki whippet hound pup,but hope to get a half cross in the future sometime,what age did any of yee start half cross on charlie?
