Most air rifles are set to about 11 ftlb. This is so they do not go over the limit with different pellets. Accuracy is far more important. You are better with a smooth, accurate rifle with little recoil running at say 10ftlb than a jumpy, inaccurate rifle doing 11.8 ftlb.

The B2's from Ole Man Hutchinson at about 50 quid? :yes:

I call my springer "The Beast" because it hits hard and well. But for a cheap gun with the little recoil dampening I did its sweet as a nut, just want a GRT for her now.

the smk b2's? i've got one of them (dont like to advertise such a cheap gun on here :icon_redface: ), just wondered what power it will be shooting at/ with which pellets?

also, is it an accurate gun?

cheers mate :notworthy::thumbs:

I find that anything from 11 to 11.8 FP is ideal for shooting vermin with at full air rifle ranges.

9 FP is ample if you are only shooting at medium range and you are accurate enough to put you pellet in the kill zone.

If a 11 FP rifle can kill out to 55 metres in the right hands why do you need a beast that beats that anyway?

Obviously if you are in a situation where you cannot get within range of the vermin with a sub 12 FP rifle then a FAC maybe needed.

But in the above thread I think we are not talking about that scenario

I dont know how accurate the gun will be, but the yanks certainly like them to tune up :yes: and I'm affraid I don't know what power spec's they have, I've heard a lot of crap about SMK's but my springer is an SMK XS Mod19 and its superb :yes:

I don't know if the guy that had had it before me had tuned it or not, but its running at 10.5 ft/lbs with AAF's and is certainly capable of knocking over bunnies at 35 yards and making sure they don't live to get up again by mashing and displacing the bunnies grey matter.

And here is the UK Chinese forum, which is a very good place for specifics regarding Chinese guns :yes:

I once set up a Diana 52 that ,while being chrono`d , dieseled and put out 78 foot pounds.

I`m sure if you poured a little oil down the barrel etc etc :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

A little off this topic but I put a post up a little while back about a trigger problem I've got with my 52.

Have you come accross this before? It's baffled me. No obvious reason at all....

They are a gun you've got to be careful with, as you've said. It takes very little to take them far too high. You really do need a chrono if you're doing anything to them, takes bugger-all to put them very much the wrong side of the law....

Cheers.
