Was wondering if anyone had any experience of ex racing or retired track greyhounds being worked? What i found was when i lamped a few for a trainer to keen them up a bit,was , getting through gates and ditch's a f*****g nightmare , had to carry some over fences, no sence at all ,and screamed everything in for miles, Thats not saying if it was raised as a pup it would probably have sussed it ok, but you'd have a lot of work to do , to wise them up at that age,,that my take on it,, Quote Link to post

fieldsman 51
A mate of mine had one very keen to the point of being mentally unbalanced this was many years ago he slipped it on a hare it took off into the distance he found it 2 hours later hanging of the throat of a bullock he took it home with the intention of stock breaking but the same night it chewed up one of his Whippets he didn,t keep it. Guest little lurcher
ive worked one this season , fab dog imo , only missed 2 things he was pointed at , took no time at all to teach to go down the beam , sadly he has buggered a toe believed to be bone cancer at one point , the toe is coming off and he is back sound except when playing for the sympathy vote , he will forget which toe is meant to be sore so an actor , could never say he was thick either , a pleasure to work and VERY WILLING to please , def worth a go , stamina will need a lot of work , but he is the only dog here who will still keep up behind my jeep for at least 5 miles , although in the beginning he could only do 3 sprints then drop to the floor!!! it can be done imo and im pleased to say im doing it with one Quote Link to post
Dan Edwards 1,134
Me personally, I would rather raise one from a pup but to each his own. Quote Link to post
Rory4 267
i think as dan says best results, for training, stock breaking and learning to control speed, be from having from pup and bringin on as a lurcher pup, but fencehopper got good working ex track. pm him or he might comment when he comes on here Quote Link to post
