activeviii 8
If im on the water the a belt with different loads in differant places. if roost shooting then i use a cartridge bag as i can put it down or just have it over the shoulder with 50 carts in it. if its a bit of ruff shooting with the dog then a handful in pocket will do. when in a hide shooting pigeons then i use an accessory pouch that the carp fishermen use. i and leave one in the car and one in the hide with me, they hold about 150 carts each. i also have 2 other belts but i only use them for the Rambo shots of me and a dead wee beastie Phil. trapperman 474
Normally and i say normally before anyone gets upset the people who have cartridge belts cant shoot fot s**t that'll be me then pockets are ok, but the trouble with them, or should I say "mine" is they accumalate a lot of crap, bits of twigs, dirt, dust, fag ash etc, you then throw a box (25) carts into your pocket, and all that shite sticks like a magnet, Im then picking bits off, or giving them a "blow" before loading, as I dont want that muck in the barrel, so YES I use a cartridge belt, holds 50 carts, keeps them clean, and I can easily see how many I have left, so, now,do I, get rid of the belt, as per nod's advice, It'll make me a better shot, wont it or say, feck what anybody else thinks, as long as Im having fun, sorry carrying out pest control, who gives a shite Did you have that one made special to fit your waist remember "a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips" Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Depends on the situation, but whatever I will always carry a good stock in the motor. Almost always use a belt in the field, it stays stocked up with a "hunting selection" so its' easy to grab and go. Sometimes carry more in the pocket! If it's a clay shoot then I'll carry my 10box (250 cart) bag and stock up the pockets from that from stand to stand. If I'm on the Skeet, DTL etc, just carry them in my pocket, the bag with spares is always close, don't use a belt here, only just thought about that, dont' know why?? Quote Link to post
Tiddler66 3
I think its horses for courses.....but IMO most driven shooters use a cartridge bag as belt would not carry enough ammo.....a standard 200 bird driven phesant shoot with 8 guns and the standard 3:1 hit ratio is 75 shots per gun.....or some may shoot 50 whilst others would shoot 100....which ever way you look at it a belt would be no use.....but out rough shooting....a different matter.....IMO Quote Link to post
Groach 7
Normally and i say normally before anyone gets upset the people who have cartridge belts cant shoot fot s**t Normally and i say normally before anyone gets upset the people who have cartridge belts cant shoot fot s**t So a shooter ability depends if he/she keeps his carts in a pocket, bag or belt? :wankerzo4: :wankerzo4: :realmad: He he he, you have a cartridge belt then The reason i say that is cause i do a lot of beating on a few estates, there is a lot of people on these that use belts, next time u are on a shoot check there shooting out and tell me its not true. whippeter69 calm down mate calm down dont take things personally  Im not sure about this i know two driven shots who use cartridge belts one is the worst shot i have ever seen and emptied his belt for the grand total of 0 birds the other shots a 20 bore Holland and Holland and is the finest shot i have ever seen, he has a quick release cartridge belt and gets at least twice as many shots of as the rest of the line and unlike the rest really can shoot. I always shoot bad out of one on driven as i end up messing about trying to get cartridges from the belt but worrying about scratching my stock on all the brass around my front George Quote Link to post
Sidelock 10
When it comes to carrying ammo or gear it doesnt matter, belt, bag pocket, the key word is delegate Now we all know the guy who'd love to try shooting but doesnt know how or were Well we all had to start somewhere and theres nowhere better than GEAR LUGGING Quote Link to post

Dan_Smiff 2
Bag for anything from a peg/hide/vehicle and pockets for walked up and rough stuff. Quote Link to post
Geoff.C 0
When clayshooting, I have a Browning carrier that holds 4 boxes of 25. Also has a pocket each side for chokes, tools ear plugs etc. When rabbiting on land where a .22 is not permitted, I seem to alternate between a bag and a belt. Rarely carry more than about 30 No 6's and maybe 4 No 1's. Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
I use a bag, belt and my pockets. It depends on what i feel like taking really. At a clay ground i will always take my carts in a bag. But the comment about belt owners being a shit shit us utter POO Quote Link to post
theinvisiblescarecrow 0
Belt or pockets. I normally only take about 10 with me. It's a long walk to & from my shoot & I don't fancy carrying to many pigeon back. At harvest time If i can scrounge a lift I'll take 50 in two pockets & another 25 in a belt. Quote Link to post
