AndyE 0
Good Morning all, Not sure if this has been asked already but I'll ask anyway. I'm looking to get into a new form of hunting. I've always ferreted or shot rats/rabbits/ hares etc. Would using a hound or two be successful?. I'm assuming that most rabbits would go to ground and therefore be a little pointless to hunt?. Is this the case or can it be done? If so I was thinking one hound and one terrier for general rabbiting/bushing/vermind control? What breeds would be recommended?. Thanks in advance for your responces. Andy. Quote Link to post

rosspti 2
I had a day with a pack of Rabbit Hounds when I was at Uni in Devon. A visiting pack came and met in the area at a local pub, and our Uni "Rural Affairs" club went along. The pack came from Ross-on-Why I think, on the Welsh Borders? They were definately called something like "...... Griffon Vendeens". They had, maybe, 17 1/2 couple hounds as well as a few bulldogs and a greyhound or two. You want areas with plenty of low scrub gorse, willow, heathers, where rabbits can be flushed out and hunted by the hounds, any sprinters can be coursed by the greyhounds, and the bulldogs just seemed to eat up everything that was killed! They killed dozens in the day, I think over 50 rabbits, and it was fantastic sport. All three breeds were running together as a pack, no horses but the Master Huntsman was in a (yellow I think) livery. Quote Link to post
