from doves to magpies

some may remember, I bought a dove decoy motion thingey from the usa last year, only to then buy a proper pigeon magnet the next month, so the dove decoy got left on the shed shelf, I think harry the cat had some success with his one that he bought at the same time.

anyhow, one of my permissions that keeps goats and sheep, have got a big magpie problem, so rather than buying more decoys, I thought Id try and change what I had to hand,

 

the plastic doves were noticable smaller than a magpie deek, so I need to extend the tail, and the beak looked too small, so that needed modifying too,

 

they dont look perfect, but after a matt black spray, and some added white patches, Im hoping It'll fool the magpies

Good idea Steve, they look good too, but there is only one way to find out? ive got one of these myself and then just borught a magnet also. humm i may use that idea
