I wouldnt advice running after your dog and "giving him a shake by the scruff" Its sending mixed messages, first your following him putting him in leadership position and even thinking its a game runn

Teach him not to jump up,or i know its embarrsing just let him get on with it, if it really bothers you advoid places times were you would meet other people.I remember a long time ago walking the dog

At that age he is going to get excited, and want to play.Let him go and dont call him untill you see he`s bored or all ready looking for you,Then instead of him not coming and you calling, In his mind you call he comes back gets a pat.No point trying to tell a dog to do somthing its not going to do your just training it to ignore you.

I get what you're saying but when the dog's all muddy and he's heading over to someone out walking with jumping up at them in mind I don't have much choice but to call his name

if you pre emt the "attack" then you should not have too much trouble(mine is the same age).if i see someone else i put him on the lead. if i don't think he will come back i wont call. only a succesfull repetition will have the desired learning effect
