i wouldnt see that as a problem it shows the dogs enjoying fetching things back its better to have one thats begging you to throw it again than one that cant be bothered bud

turn your back on her she will come round you then take the dummmy from her plenty of praise. you could get her to hang onto a rope in a tug game and let her keep the rope and just give her a hug and a lot of praise before you take it off her

tried the old turning back on her routine didnt really work to be honest, didnt like the thought of tug of war but maybe thats the way, worry about getting the prey of her at a later stage swaping it for a treat ect

You might try stepping towards her at the last minute to get the retieve before she drops it, praise and throw again. If she drops it no praise, put it in your pocket, forget it for 5 mins, try again. Never throw it if she drops it, she's anticipating the throw, teach her she only gets the throw if she gives to hand. Might take awhile but she should grasp it ,after all she's learned the faster she drops the faster you throw lol.

Had the same trouble with my mates spaniel pup, i got round it by bending down to take the dummy from the dogs mouth as it brought it back. I held the dummy with both hands in the dogs mouth and told him to hold it and then after a few seconds told him to leave it (dead), then loosened my grip and allowed the dog to release the dummy, after a couple of days doing this (3-4 times a day) the dog soon got the idea of what i wanted now he holds the game for as long as my mate wantshe will even carry it along at my mates side with no problems what so ever. Hope this helps mate. Shadowstalker. Forgot to mention plenty of praise when the dog gets it right.
