what is the best chock for mid to high pigeons

thanks pest hunter 151

Well PH, firstly it's 'CHOKE'.

But that's detail, you don't say if you have a O/U>S/S or a Semi-Auto?

Assuming you only have 1 choke to play with you must have a semi-auto i.e. one barrel.

Then I would reccomend a 1/2 choke, but pick your shells properly as this is MORE important

than the degree of choke (in my opinion?).

For Mid to High Pigeons I would use 32 Gram No5's in the felt wad, I prefer to us lots of pellets

of a medium/large size through a fairly open choke.

However if you have a double barrel variable choke shotgun, then I would reccomend true cylinder in

the 'open' barrel and 1/2 in the 'top' or 'left' barrel, still using the same shells.

I am however old school, and a fairly lousy shotgun shot, rifle shooting spoils your shotgun technique

that's for sure.

Some young 'hotshots' I've seen do very well with 28 Gram plasiwad No7>8's through full chokes, but if I use that

I can't hit a damm thing.

I have an old s/s dont think barrals are the same size hmmm dose this mean that they need choke put in them. I have not had a shot gun for long so please bare with me and sorry about my bad spelling :icon_redface:

How do you mean the barrels are a different size? They should be even with an inner diameter at the end that is normally slightly different ie: chokes. If there is a screw in choke it means they can be swapped around, if they are fixed chokes then tough you've got what you got

i think its kind of a given that A there fixed and B if he cant tell from fixed and open for chokes should he really be out shooting anyhting other than clays untill he learns alot more about what hes doing..

i dont mean to affend you but you really should be joining a local clay shooting club and learn about shotguns and shooting / shooting safty. befor u go out and shoot some woodies. Everyone thinks they know what they are doing and there 100% safe till they shoot them selfs in the foot.
