Rabbithunter 456
Right, as i posted the other week, the pup is ignorant in her re-call. If she is 30yards down the dyke (not even that far sometimes) and i shout her to come back, her ear's don't even prick up. NightTimeNellie will back me up on how ignorant she is as i had a wee walk with he and his pack of dogs the other day. I have tried encouraging her back with a treat, when she sees it she comes back, i start stroking her and proceed in giving her the treat, which she takes and just fucks off again. I don't know if and where i have gone wrong with her as she will retrieve for me. She will go to her kennel when i tell her to go bed. and she will sit. Any tips ??????????? Quote Link to post

Guest Frank
Is she a Saluki? My mate had one of these, deadly on hare, ran it down, but dam if you could call it back, deaf as a coot. :11: He eventually got her back after courses and in his out of breath words, he said,' thats a saluki for ya Frank. MATTI 34
The recall need's to be 100% in a familier place ie; garden yard or even the run before it's tried in open space's, also the dog should have total trust in you, some people don't have patience and voice control and even physical correction come's into play. In the past with a stubborn or very confident dog i've found that while exercising hide from them but alway's with them in your sight, when they realise you're not to be found and look like they're are starting to have lost they're bravado step out from your hiding place and make a fuss, it has worked on dog's we've had in the past, hope it help's, i know there's nothing more frustrating than a selectively deaf dog not to say embarrasing. All the best. MATTI Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
frank there is no saluki in her, but there is between 1/8 and 1/4 bull in her. The dog is a few days off being 7 months old. she used to do everything fine (re-call, retrieve, sit) which she still does, except the re-call. Its funny that, she will retrieve, but NOT come back when shouted, its a mad world is a dogs world. I was thinking of running her around christmas time when she will be 10 months old, not hard runnning, just a few slips a night. But i won't bother now, it's looking like im going to have a hard time getting her right Quote Link to post

Hi have you tried hiding from her, I mean if you are walking behind when she goes off, she knows your always there until she's ready to come back to you, But if you hide behind a tree or drop down in the ground and she cant see you she will panic a bit and come looking for you, make sure you still call her in a low tone , when she meets up with you make a big fuss of her, do this once or twice it should work good luck Quote Link to post

shotup 9
try starving her for a day or so then take her out with some food in your pocket like some black pudding feed her a little every time she come back and she will if hungry also at the same time praising her. dont hit her if she wont come but walk the other way until she does then praise her.its only a little problem now and can be nipped in the bud.give her a few weeks on the lead then try again if she continues.
