As above wouldn't worry to much about it if its not ripped or bleeding.

You should keep an eye on it next time you go out tho as sometimes after they catch it once it usually happens again.

It happened to a bitch of mine before an kept happening everytime she hit heavy cover.

Bit of vet wrap around it before you go out can help but i found taking them off does them no harm to their performance.thumbs.gif

get em took off mate, dont know why people leave em on a working dog

 

 

Because it was sight, race dogs which mainly had them removed... Many many dogs still have their dew claws, and many many dogs go through there lives with no problem at all..

 

and many many dont as you have just found out, to your cost and your dog laid up for 6wks at least its not happened in the middle of the season

laid up!? He was out last evening my good friend.... i checked 22 dogs on sunday at EDRD, and 99% of dogs which were there are workers..17 of them had dew claws...

and that says to me theres lads out there that cant be arsed taking them off or dont know how to, lets put it this way if you bred a litter would you take them off or leave them on? because you seem to know what your talking about perhaps its all the books you read
