CarraghsGem 92 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Share Posted March 18, 2010 had lurchers for years but got young bitch which as started screaming and opening up on stuff when coursing them.is there anything i can do or just have the voice box removed jez........ havent a clue,try to keep calm yourself,maybe a dap for dogs spray in your vehicle or a more laid back dog running with her to calm her down, dont think surgery is the answer, just dont bring her out all pent up with excitement until she learns some self control, if she is all wound up when you bring her out walk her on lead till she calms down, if that doesnt work repeat the exercise day after day until she relaxes, walk her over rabbit ground on lead until she becomes a bit calmer and maybe reduce the protein in her diet a little bit until she has got over this phase, when she finally gets the idea try her again. hope it helps, wont cost you anything to try it anyway..... maybe someone else will have a better idea. gem. arcticgun 4,548 Posted March 19, 2010 Report Share Posted March 19, 2010 my beddy x gives the odd yip when she is running quarry that I wouldn't slip her on,(punching above her weight ) she hunts stuff up or the terrier flushes it, that its not in her best interests to run the runs often look hopeless, but a couple of yips and some serious running and she usually gets on terms and enjoys a taxing run, the odd time she even gets lucky , it don't bother me at all, Im not a midnight poacher type of hunter and if I was I'd slip her on the ones she takes with ease funny though the runs she yips on are always the ones I remember most Quote Link to post
