langouroux 14
i am just about to buy a mod for my 6.5x55 and i have a choice of 2. Both of them are wildcat, but one is the compact version... smaller and lighter. At the end of the day i want the quietest and the one that reduces recoil the most, but at sportsman gun centre they say that the difference is "barely noticeable" can any one shed any light on it for me? Mr_Logic 5
The difference is indeed barely noticeable - I have had both, as has Deker, and we have compared. Couldn't tell the difference in moderation, sure can in weight. Absolutely, 110%, get the compact. Quote Link to post

mangy1983 51
Left same message advertising pest control in the south lincolnshire wildfowlers on the wash thread in the wildfowling section and on New Guy thread in the new members section. Looks like spam to me. Edited March 19, 2010 by mangy1983 Quote Link to post

No plans at the moment mate but will let you know when I do. BTW, you have a shotgun don't you? You been to Newnham Park clay ground in Plympton? Very good! Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
As you possibly know I have the Compact on all my centrefires now, up to and including .308. Sound reduction wise I believe you would need specialist test equipment to notice the difference from the full length P8. Weight and balance are always issues when hanging a mod on a rifle and in this respect the Compact wins hands down. ATB!! Quote Link to post

rutland12 0
Hi Just be aware of my recent experience. I was happily using the standard p8 on a tikka t3 hunter 223/zeiss conquest 6x20x50 scope. When I converted it to the compact and then mounted my lightforce 140 on the scope and switched on I was completed blinded by the reflection from the back of the shortened moderator. The compact conversion kit is now for sale as it is useless for my set up ! Fine for daylight use .Any offers please contact Edited March 20, 2010 by rutland12 Quote Link to post
