martin 332
Droppers truck was out of order,so,I went up to get him as I had a night out planned for us.The farm we went on has a fair few foxes on,and, the farmer wants some taken out.We arrived there quite late to be honest, and we walked a good bit of land before we got a pair of eyes in the lamp(I was lamping)the eyes were a long way off(300-400yds)and dropper started to call, the fox wasn't for waiting around and he came running in like a greyhound, within 30 secs or so he was within 120yds,but,as he got to a hump in the field he stopped,it was as if he knew it wasn't a safe shot, and,he did take a little persuading, but he eventually dropped down over the brow, and a little "Oy" stopped him in his tracks.....well that and a 100grain Winchester!!! With that I flicked the lamp around only to find another coming in from 2 fields away, and,he too was a runner.I think he actually crossed the brook as his feet were wet.He needed an "Oy" to stop him coming in too far as well, but he was always going to be in a safe shooting area as he was coming up from the valley, and,as he stopped to the shout he was duly despatched. They were two big Dog foxes, one of which we should of weighed as he would of maybe gone over 20LB,that was it for the night and it all happened in a few minutes,it sometimes goes like that, but, two less to worry about anyway, and the farmer was happy as Larry........... cheers....Martin p.s. Dropper would of posted this but his young daughter won't let him have his camera cable back.. Quote Link to post

Mastiff 7
Silly question but what do you do with a dead fox? Sorry but I've always wondered. Mick. Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
Good going guys - two large, confident dogs would surely have made a nuisance of themselves if they havent already. Looks like that second one learnt the hard way about running in after a hearing a shot Proper Job! Edited to say the dead fox's are either incinerated or buried 1 to a depth of 1 meter Edited March 17, 2010 by Local Quote Link to post
