biglee 1 3 Posted March 16, 2010 Report Share Posted March 16, 2010 iam building a good sized kennel and run for my two springers 1 is a year an 1 is 2yers will they adapt to living outside theve been in the house in cages since 8 weeks am i [bANNED TEXT] in thinking thell be ok and adapt to it no bother as long as there warm enuff? You will probably find for the first couple of nights you will get a bit of whining (maybe a lot of whining) but they will settle down ok as long as you get out to them early in the morning to let them know they have not been abandoned. Once settled - end of problems. You are doing the right thing keeping them outside - spaniel's coats are pretty thick. I remember a couple of years ago one of my spaniels who sleeps outside of his bunk was covered in snow - thought he was a gonner - nudged him with my foot and he just shook the snow off him and trotted out - not bad for a 16 year old - sadly lost him a couple of months ago aged 17. One thing is handy for the run is a wooden plynth for the dogs to sit/lie on - wood is warmer than the floor. Quote Link to post
