The age i start a pup, depends compeletly on the pup , but what i dont want in a pup is one that goes APE SHIT as soon as he gets into a field, and found that the pup developes hunt mode when entered too young, what i want is the same control in the field as i have at home, the pup must be calm , I dont slip a dog,he's always loose but doesnt stray, it works for me anyway..

Thats like bringing a child to and jungle gyms and till them till stand beside you all day wise up there pups or pup how can they get the musles on there legs and learning how till run. if you dont want them running about playing there pups they need 2 play.If you watch any wild life show with baby animals on how do they learn till hunt they run about playing and fighting with each other.

When im lamping the dog is beside me , no lead. when its time for play ,he understands GO PLAY, play as you say ,is great for them, im 100% behind playing, but off the lead he got to listen to you ,no matter where you are..the dog knows not to go through a gate or gap before me ,he waits because hes calm..dogs running through fences into the next field without me ,has lead me into all sorts of trouble..good luck.

the young fellow, I have was walked from 12 weeks old encouraged to hunt the woodland, and fields at a very early age, (( only were rabbits were, he started chasing through the woods as soon as he was able to handle it, hunted in small fields, for rabbits and picked up his first daylight rabbit in last july, age 7 and half months, encouraged to hunt away from me every early morning, at 9 months had his first rabbit on the lamp, and retrieved straight back to hand, ((( but he had been out watching a first class lamping dog, another good collie x, catch and retrieve to hand alive, and had his first Roe, at Christmas, hard frost 2" snow on the ground hunted it up and tracked it fine in broad daylight, and he is progressing, very nicely, 15 months old, and can hunt round a 20acre field No problem at all, at speed, had his first long ears, last week, and he has Never been entered to Fox,(( I cant eat those fellows,)) you have to take them out for education, and able to hunt, is a great advantage, his jumping just came natural, over and under fences, over ditches, its all part of there education, thats myway, may not suit, everybody else, but all my previous dogs were able to hunt away from me, his retrieving is not the best since he has had a few beasties,he flushed his first roe out of a small wood at 10 months, were a fellow and his dog and his gun was waiting for the roe,

education, education, in a controlled manner, start them young, in a controlled manner,
