FightTheBan 1,147
"its not about rushing its a fact the younger you are the easer it is to learn, and exerciseing anything young makes it develop better. Whin is right your wrong" First of all, whin may be right, but i certainly am not wrong. It is a matter of opinion and that is it. To say that your opinion is the right one and mine is wrong will hopefully show others what an arsehole you are. Never have i met someone so full of themselves and egotistic about their dogs/training methods and i live in Ayrshire and have met ALOT of aresholes. Secondly IN MY OPINION, pups do not learn better, quite the opposite. You teach them something one day and they have forgotten it the next. The reason being they are PUPPYS and not mentally developed. I'll tell you what Flint, why dont you stick to your method and i'll stick to mine. It works for me and it has got feck all to do with you what i do with my dogs. I work closely with a friend who starts his dogs early (still not quite as early as you), and his dogs do not have this 'edge' you talk of, quite the opposite they are not as keen. They have been sickened by work from being entered too early. I cannot have an adult conversation with someone who is as strongly opinionated as you, because its not a discussion its an argument. I wish you all the success with your dogs, but it sounds like you dont ned it FTB Edited March 17, 2010 by FightTheBan Quote Link to post

whin 463
by the time they are a year mate they are clued up, after thats its running wind ,and game sense, once the qaurry is up and going ,in big open land there not that many obstacles so adog has to be able to run and hang on even out the lite ,or if daylite no were the qaurry wants to go and try and spin him off ,its a diffrent ball game ,was out with two young pups last nite 4 chases each three catches one dog two one dog one , on big 100 yrd slips now if they hadnt been entrd and trained early they would had tioling as it was on short grass and stony feilds but they run them clever ,all the best , intresting subject and lets you no how some people train dogs enter dogs , and how some people dont all the best maybe some land isnt suitable for running dogs so they hold them back a bit , there alot of people on thesechannels who are kids dont hunt much havent been lucky enough to do it as a job passion so you need to be open minded at times Quote Link to post
Casso 1,261
This topic has been done to bits now, lot of lads with a lot of experience starting pups young which surprised me,however every lurcher man has his own way of doing things, still dont see the advantage of entering them young in the long run ,and as far as animals in the wild and how young they start, well hunger is a great motivator, but how many make it to adulthood, 1 in 5 maybe, best of luck lads..
