Wild_and_Irish 11
I've a pup similar breeding/age and he's 28" and 10monthand had a few rabbits, he pounces on them on the turn, his height has actually helped him cutting off the rabbits by jumping over shrubs/rocks Quote Link to post
wirral countryman 2,110
had a few big dogs and they always looked impressive on the move, you got to teach them to jump well as they struggle to get through some fences and gates, they all made good all round dogs and made large quarry look easy, just get it out as much as you can, stockbreaking and instant recall are a must, don't worry about the size so long as it has a good strike it will pick up anything asked of it,atb, wirralman Quote Link to post

the bullcross man 6
mine is nearly 27tts and the only thing that took im abit of time to do well is his turning and is still not up to standard but that is due to lack of work for him Quote Link to post

I,m,o, 29 is too big,I would not want a dog over 26 for any job with the exeption of maybe deer. A wagon can't slow down and change direction as easy as a mini, the strength to weight ratio is higher in a smaller dog, and a smaller dog gets up to speed faster. I've seen whippets easily beat greyhounds over 150mts. A realy big dog hasn't got the stamina of a smaller dog. Having said all that, a tall lightly built dog will perform better than a heavily built one. So I guess it's more about weight than hight. Edited March 15, 2010 by romany52 Quote Link to post
