KC LAKIES DONT WORK TRUE OR FALSE

Recommended Posts

there are some good working dogs bred from kc stock. ive seen a little fox terrier bitch working to ground. ive owned a parson that worked ten seasons with me. ive seen kc borders working well. the problem being they are generally the exeption rather than the rule. so as producers they are none starters. one of the hardest terriers i saw was a little pet bred russell. a really ugly little dog. but what a worker. ended up to hard . this dog worked with the gun and retrieved feather live and unharmed. same thing aplies.allmost imposible to produce from. worker to worker for me :) or i would try a pup from good solid lines and be confident i would make something out of it. ive got a plummer that works to ground. so anything is possible :D

in my oppinion the biggest problem with KC dogs is, if y find a good worker which is not from line of tested workers, you probably wont produce a workers. i saw couple of fox terriers, great results from shows, solid workers but they never produce workers. i hope your lakies ll do the grade than you can breed them and after another 3-4 years y ll see if they can produce. another problem here in continent is that 99 percent of KC dogs are too big for earth work.

The same line of lakies that were and continue to be bred worker to worker before they were recognised as a breed by the kc and people started breeding them for show aswell, same with every breed apart from toy dogs. Fairplay if yours work but even my pet golden retriever has killed a good number of rats, squirrels and cats

if he uses K.C lakeland to "tidy his strain" then he sounds like he is focused on winning rosetes at terriers shows rather than producing prper digging dogs.

and he said he seen rubbish produce great dogs?? why was the rubbish bred from and not PTS like it should have been?

im not trying to have a go but you have come on boasting and talking out of your arse.

Working lakies started as more of a type than a breed just working men breeding working dog to suit the work thay had to do .It wasnt so much a bit of this and a bit of that and thay didnt come about over night. How do you think thay were bread. And why would a terier man with good dogs want to add kennel club blood to his strain ????????.

Not being funny pal but what you have is probably 1 in 1000, and i still wouldnt breed off them because the pups almost certainly wont work. KC terriers have been bred for looks for too long and have lost the ability to do proper earthwork in all but a few cases.

And your second comment any dog thats trained right will go down a hole...is true, but its what the dog meets down the hole that splits the difference. Any numpty can run an empty earth, i doubt it if your dogs will stick it in the long run, but i really hope they do. And well done for trying and giving it a go

Just because they are KC Register'd, don't mean they are not going to work. I work and breed KC Register'd Border Terriers, and they produce good working stock. The dog I have just used is 9 years old and still working, and very well at that. My own bitch is 5 years old and still grafting, and now her off-spring are doing well. A good friend of mine used to work and breed KC Register'd Lakies, and they to produced good workers, so much so, a lot of well known Terrier men, years ago, put them into their own lines, because of their raw courage. I think you are doing a good thing, and good luck with your breeding
