NEW Anschutz Rifles!- big bore center fire!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just though I had to share this with you all, I'm super excited about it and can't wait for the reviews in the magazines, though when they come to this country they'll no doubt be darn expensive but anyhow... WHAT THE HELL IS HE TALKING ABOUT????- THIS!

Anschutz have come out with two new rifles in calibers,

.308 Win

.30-06 Sprg

8x57IS

9.3x62

the model is the 1780, in addition to the 1770 which I did a post on earlier... I don't think they'll be coming to the UK for some while yet, but I'll be keeping an eye out for reviews in the American magazines!

HERE's the link to download the catalogue where the reifles are in, (they're not yet on the internet either.)

What dy'all think?

Cheers

I think we have done something similar to this on Anschutz a few weeks back...anyway, I'm sure they will be excellent and I'm sure they will sell a few.

The BUT is, I am content with the hunting tools I have which can probably all shoot better than I can already, so personally these have no interest for me.

I reckon they are, so to speak, aimed at European hunters. The 9.3 x 62 would be a great calibre for wild boar in the uk tho. Problem is, CZ make rifles in all those calibres and I can't imagine Anschutz matching them on price!

Yes I do think they'll be quite expensive, but they'll be aimed at people who would otherwise buy a Sauer, Blaser, Mauser, or perhaps a Sako, as they're (IMO) "enthusiast rifles", yep, there are loads of other guns on the market that do the same thing at a "better" price or cheaper, though these rifles will be bought by people who want the best, like the brand, or for the pride of ownership. Personally, unless they turn out to be +/- a couple of hundred off of a grand, then they'll probably put people off, me included I have to say just like Sako as they're just a tad too expensive for what they are, where you could find a rifle as good for less money, like a Kimber for example...

(Deker, I did a post on their 1770 in .223 rem a while ago)

I'll still be looking for the reviews in the magazines!

Cheers

Now if they bring in a magazine bolt action in 6.5 x 68 . . . That is an amazing calibre! Designed to drop wild goats or big deer up to 500 metres. Look it up and feel your jaw drop! I want one!

6.5x68... it certainly dosen't hang around!! pretty quick, I reckon it'd be a good cartridge for hill stalking or praries or moundains where flat shooting is a boon, but it wouldn't really suit woodland or mixed woodland/farmland shooting methinks- a tad too much oomph.

I'll bet there's some hefty recoil with that as well, especially with the bigger bullets...
