sounder79 80
Anyone use springers for hunting foxes out for lurchers? I use em and find em very good.Any opinions? i have one and he hunts foxes ahright but he needs another good dog with him to help.i lost my best dog last year ,he was a pointer /whippet/bullx springer.i used to get a rake of foxes in the cover with them because they hunted as a team. the springer on his own is ahright but the other dog i had was way better,he was finding everything and the springer was only joining in,but hes still not bad but wouldnt touch my old dog. i reckon if you cross springers with terriers you get better dogs for foxes. The springers i have now are finding foxes much faster than the beagles,i know what you mean though, some of em look busy but wont lead a hunt and find but will follow if you know what i mean. poacherman 353
ma springer got its first tussle with a fox last week before pushing it out to the gun. the fox was sittin very tight in some brambles. it got a bite on the face but he managed to get it out infront of the gun. my family have had spaniels for years and most of them wouldnt touch a fox. was suprised the way my springer acted to this one atb poacherman Quote Link to post
