Relum Tornado Refurbish......

Managed to get to the rifle shop after work today to get it chronoed.....

 

It was tested with 5 shots using 5.5mm RWS Superdomes at 14.5gr

 

Here's the figures....

 

FPS

1. 575

2. 571

3. 569

4. 580

5. 577

 

average of 574.4 which makes the power 10.63lbs/ft

 

Happy with that for the age of the rifle, I could take the power closer to the mid 11's by fitting a new spring but I don't think it's worth it

 

Next step is to zero it at 25M and see what groups it gives.... I'll keep you posted!

Marksman, think this is my first post in this section as I ain't owned an air rifle for many a year (though one day i'll get my finger out an buy one!) but your post on an old Tornado got me looking, as it was my first 'decent' rifle, when i was about 14 (i'm now 43!). Many a bunny bit the dust with this one!

I must say what a fantastic job you've done on the old gun and what a pleasure it is to see a Tornado as I did see 'em, back in the day. Well done!!

Cant believe you were getting those shooting results mate! Good work! I will be interested to see how it groups but its got the power at least ! Will see if anyones got anything old that they dont want round me and if so will let you know!!

nice looking refurb buddy and i agree with gary she will kill ya matey lol for the washing line and gary said she is shooting ok matey and a good write up to as well as pictures buddy and i got a website free for 6 months off 1and 1 ummm they said it was a promotional thing ? but i had a look at it it's not what i wanted but it works for now until i get some money in and then go for something alot better matey i put a group up on facebook for CnG pest control to cheers for joining matey and gary. are you out shooting over the weekend ?

shoots great Si. But by god is it noisy!!!

 

Not a lot of rats around our plots tbh mate although I would like to have a go at some as it will reminise with my youth using the same rifle to do what I very first used it for

would you just use a normal paint brush to do the stock?
