I promised Trisha that i would do a bit of a write up of last night so here goes!

I met Trisha and his dogs a month or so ago when i advertised for a ferreting partner on here. It turned out he lived 15 miles away and was as obsessed with catching rabbits as me, a good start! Since we met we've been out together a few times a week and a great friendship has started!

Anyway, last night my girlfriend was down visiting from the Midlands so i'd promised to take her ut for a good nights lamping. We picked Trisha and donna up at about 10.30 and crossed the border to hunt some english rabbits!

On the way up we were passing near another permission where there are often a fair few hares so thought we'd take a wee detour and have a quick shine along the way. Turned out to be a good idea, third field up and two were sat well out.I shot it (with my cutting wit) and trisha gave the dog a long slip. Donna performed excellently and was a pleasure to watch. Enough said.

Onto the rabbits now. We headed up to a big arable farm and set off. First field and a few about, trisha did a long slip and the dog was off, performed a stunning run to the end of the beam and back along the hedge line before neatly picking rabbit number one, next field she took another after a few neat turns. Field three was a nice grass crop, perfect for squatters, trisha spotted one out and we walked up on it, amazingly it didnt run (most of the rabbits up there are lamp shy) and donna performed the neatest snatch i've seen (i think trisha still had hold of the collar!), just as that rabbit came to hand another got up under our feet and the dg nailed it before it made the hedge.

We spotted other lamps ahead of us so decided to head back to the car, picking up another on the way back.

5 in the bag. We headed to another spot on the way back. Took one on a nice long slip from the first field, then slipped on another that was a fair way out, it diseappeared over a ridge and into a stream running through some trees, we thought the bitch had lost it and the crunch, splash, squeal, another rabbit in the bag. On the way back she ran on another squatter, leapt and neatly pinned it (she's getting the hang of it now!).

One more farm on the way home and she took another two, one after a nice long run and the other she stalked and plucked out of a hedge!

We headed home very satisfied and my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her self! The dog performed excellently and has really come on even in the last couple of months, i can't wait to see her next season!
