Running pregnant/milky does doesnt appeal to me and killing does with kits in the nest and so wiping out next winters sport seems silly.     atb   Jai.

not allways about " sport " boys, if you gotta do it to keep your permission then crack on, i do,

FECKIN HELL WHIN ................ I THINK IVE JUST AGREED WITH YER   IVE HEARD ALL THE CRAP ABOUT LOADS OF PERMISSION THAT NEEDS ALL YEAR ROUND CONTROL   BULLSHIT   IF THEY ARE HIT HAR

last year my friend shot a hare around the start of april. gutted it and it had four young ones inside it. a total waste. the way a look at it, that could have been 5 good healthy hares for next season and where he got it there not than many hares about. if we let the qaurry breed we will get good seasons

Because round this time or year is the start of the breeding season for most animals.

An you just end up catching young or pregnant animals which if left until they are older provide better sport.

At the end of the day i personally don't go out to eradicate animals from particular areas as this would leave me nowhere to hunt.

If i thought a place i would hunt was getting very thin on the ground i would ease up until the population picked up again.

could people tell me thier reasons for stopping lamping march till september, cheers.

Whats...their reasons...are you having a laugh...wheres the sport in trying a catch a pregnant doe....or.. killing a doe thats gonna let its kits starve. I can understand people hunting through the breeding season if its their living or to keep permission. I have a very low opinion of people who hunt unnecessarily through the breeding season. There not true lurchermen in my eyes.

some peoples season only starts now, their second rate dogs can't catch much in the winter so have to resort to running milky does and such to tell their mates that they had however many rabbits, etc, number's seem to matter nowaday's,especially on this website, the sooner the grass grow's and the nettles and cover the better for me,when the crops are up a bit they won't be able to kill as much as they would like, there are some very poor excuses used on here to keep hunting all year round but none that are excusable to decent lurchermen,if they don't know when to stop or why, then they shouldn't be hunting, when there is nothing left to hunt they will wonder why?it sounds like some parts of the country struggle now going by some of the posts on here,if there's not much there now and you carry on through the summer there will be nothing left for those decent lamping nights we all wait for, wirralman

spot on lad

as soon as i seen pregnant doe,s i finished up.

that was in mid feb.

even though there is plenty of rabbits around me i still want the same sport that im getting now when im an old man.

some lads have to hunt to keep their permission but if ya hunt em all year round that permission wont be very productive in a few years.

only killing your own sport imho.

my way of thinking is killing a healthy doe at this time of year then your losing rougly 10 rabbits come sep-oct.

doesnt make much sence doing that for me but each to there own.

sounds like I touched a nerve there charliehunter or is it milkydoe hunter, you obviously take this time of year to up your bag,you are a second rate dog man that can't get past your childish post on the jack russell terrier advice, you gave poor advice now move on,you have tried to have a go at some of my posts recently but I am sure you are in the minority in your ignorant opinions, people with no permission will probably carry on lamping as they have nothing to lose,I can see why, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with it,with age comes responsibility, you tell me you are older than me,try acting it by giving some sensible advice for a change to up and coming lads that are the future of our sport, giving my opinion on an open forum is my right and you namecalling will not stop that, grow up,wirralman
