i think its due to the fact that newcomers who dont know alot about hunting belive hunting dogs need to be agressive to get the job done plus they look the part!! if i had a bullx or a colliex put infont of me when i first came into the sport i would have chosen the beastly looking dog purly because they look good!!

i dont know any bull xz down my way that have caught regular decent bags of rabbits but truth be told thats not what there bred for are they!

i think there just as good as any other breed but no better they look the part and it dont take much to make them look in shape due to the structure of the breeding. im not a great fan of the typical first or 3/8 5/8 bull xs think there alot better at there job when crossed to another hybrid. my books its the same as the chavs with there staffs in council estates just trying to make a statement. not saying thats every one on here but thats just what ive noticed. so hope no body takes offence atb jamie

ive got a bull x and i think they are a one job dog to be honest i prefer the collie x :victory:

in the right hands a bull x can be a lot more than a one dog job especially the 1/4 bull.

some people get a bull x for one job and dont give them the chance or the proper training as you would with a collie x etc.

if you put the time in to them you might just be suprised what this x is capable of ;)

Chimp i have read that the bulldog was used in the makeup of victorian greyhounds to increase drive and gameness for the course. but f**k knows even im not that old :D

Here you go

Lord Orford kept a larger kennel, as many as 100 dogs. He also experimented with crossing the Greyhound with other breeds. He crossed the Greyhound with the English bulldog (which then was more like today's terrier). The result was far from successful, but seven generations later Lord Orford obtained Greyhounds with “small ears, rat tails and skin almost without hair, together with the innate courage found in the Bulldog breed that never gives in…rather to die than relinquish the chase.†Lord Orford's Greyhounds are the ancestors to our modern-day Greyhounds. Lord Orford is also considered the father of coursing..

Had a lot to do with pits in the late seventies early eighties and most of the lurcher lads i knew had a play and once they saw how agile and intelligent a pure is in the right hands it was only common sense to use them for breeding moreso as the foxing game had took of thanks to B P and his book.

A bit of bull goes a long way and can improve a strain lacking in gameness atb
