touch wood have never had a yapper yet, seen a few with terrier blood in them. But i find if you start them too early or run them doulbed up this will increse them to yap.

each to their own bud, but if you start a dog early then the possibility is they wont catch their choosen quarry

mate your right people dont realise yapping is a part of the hunting instincts in dogs and wolves and its used as you say to notify the pack were they are to help with the catch i've noticed the more

most of them that yapped were beddie crosses and hancock stuff i admit ,saw ajack russel terrier greyhound yap like ole yeller on ahare its basicaly a dog thats ,not getting it how he wants it so gets frustrated and if they are high chase drive without running sense they do it ,saw lots of greyhounds run not saw any sing like ole yelller , but the minute you put hound blood terrier blood odd colllie type they start the chorus once the hare pulls away ,

I have found its only hare's that make the odd dog open up,them tight turns when some dogs get frustrated,I had a 3/4 out of hancocks gear 20yrs ago that would make a single yap on each turn,he had to go to a home where the lad worked mainly fox which he was outstanding, killed his first fox while out bushing rabbits at 10months of age and never let one go thereafter, the only other dogs I've seen yap all had whippet heavilly in their breeding,my dad used to say it was the dog shouting for the hare to come back!!!LOL,wirralman

:blink: Let me get this right..... You saw a dog quiet until he was running with quicker dogs then he barked to tell them to slow down, is that right? And pray tell, did these quicker gentlemen errr I mean dogs, slow down their haste and let said yapper catch up on the dastardly hare? Aye he barked through f*****g frustration but to think for one second that the f*****g quicker dogs were going to slow down cos some useless welp canny keep up is f*****g laughable. Then you go on to say that an old dog once tired chasing a hare starts barking to let 2 of his siblings take over the chase, are you f*****g mental??? Firstly, why the f**k were there 3 dogs on the f*****g hare to start with??? :hmm: Secondly, do you actually believe that the old dog is barking to let the other 2 (lets face it, f*****g useless dogs if they are at the back to begin with) take over the chase? I use to think you knew a wee bit about dogs mate but your showing yourself up big time. :icon_eek:
