samstorm 34
lately i have noticed alot more people have working bull terriers be it english, staffy, or whatever, yet they cant be shown at lurcher and terrier shows, they are after all working terriers, am i the only one that would like yo show there working bull terrier off in the show ring aswell as in the field?? cheers samstorm
dodgers mum 4
i have worked my staffs for 20 years and have only been able to show them in local shows i am hoping to show mine at some country fairs like you said they are terriers.Dont think folk understand how much work goes into training a bull breed to do field work it is dedication and hard work.Dont think their reputation does them justice. Bosun11 537
Back in the early 's almost every show you'd go to had a bull classes. Was a good money spinner for the club, as they were always well attended and seen some spectacular dogs there..... Great! Sadley this was not always the case, to many idiots winding there dogs up, some lettin 'em go, carnage around children etc, plus the attraction it aroused with the police, turned into a feckin nightmare! I love bull terriers, enjoy bull terrier shows but as far as i'm concerned, keep them out of working terrier & lurcher shows, enough damage was done in the 's!
samstorm 34
i think your wrong to say keep them out of shows, surely rules could be put in place to allow such shows, e,g, muzzled dogs, you cant tar every bull owner with the same brush, were not all in it to look good (strange thing to say on the topic of shows lol) not every one wants there dog to be harder than his mates,, i think and im sure alot of other people would agree, that bull terriers should be aloud to be shown in a working terrier show, cheers samstorm
gonetoearth 5,144
in the current climate it would be a brave club who put on this class i have nothing against the type just the attraction it would bring

So you'll have 20 or so Bull breeds, and their owners standing around in a ring .............. the dogs will have muzzles on ................ most of them will be screaming at each other .............. That will make a nice photo for the Scum newspaper or to go on Panorama. Low profile is the way forward!
samstorm 34
explain mate? currant climate? what you meen is the ban, right so coz of the ban dogs that were used before it should be discontinued?? erm no!! my dog can catch a rabbit, works with ferrets, does what i want her to, shes not a vicious monster with humans(adult or child) and is sound with dogs wether she knows them or not, so i cant show my dog because a minority of bull breed owners decide to fight there dogs, i think thats unfair is it not?? the bullcross man 6
i would agree with gonetoearth as these dogs get into the wrong hands they can be dangerous and that is what has given them a reputation and would bring the cops to the shows alot more. On the other hand some of these dogs are like samstorms soft as shit but still does the jod just my opinion

If by "ACES" you mean the club based nr brighton . . . then yes i agree, these guys show their dogs and compete them on the lure, high wall, weight pull, long jump etc . . . . I've attended loads of their events and NEVER once seen an incident between dogs. They do it by being responsible and knowing the breed, the management and staff take it very seriously and the very purpose of the club is to promote bull breeds in a good light and show what fantastic dogs they can be, if treated responsibly.
