ASBOS FOR DOGS

Recommended Posts

just been watching the news and there is talk of the goverment bringing in compulsory insurance incase your dog bites someone or evan other dogs, sky news evan mentioned asbos being brought out on dogs, and there is evan the mention of every dog having to be chipped. almost every clip showed a bull terrier breed as being dangerouse its more bad press being pushed towards the dog world and the bull terrier.

what do you think the chances are of this being brought into force, also how much effect do you think it will have on the lurcher world especially the bull cross lurchers.

As someone who has had bull breeds since i was about 6 years old (staffys or EBTs) this really winds me up.

Its just chavs who have 'Bull Breeds' to look hard, treat them like shit, try to get them aggressive etc, and then people think its the breeds.

If they had a collie or a lab then they would give these dogs the same press, its just unfortunate for the bull breeds that they have chosen to have a staffy or english bull etc.

Im not sure if what they are proposing on the news today would happen, but maybe it wouldnt be a bad thing if it did. I wouldnt mind paying insurance and micro chipping my dogs if it got rid of the tossers who are ruining bull breeds.

both my dogs are insured and microchipped any way, wouldnt have it any other way. what, i pay 12 pound a month for insurance and 15 pound for the micro chipps. how much do we spend on tabs/drink/drugs etc? a lot more than that. surely your dogs are worth it.

always they go for the wrong choice its always the owner not the dog in 99% of cases dogs should be socialized with other dogs when pups and when adult. these thugs who terrorise kids and people get there dogs so aggressive they attack anything that moves well they cannot be that fecking hard they need a dog to help em that's the people the plod should be cracking down on there's probably drugs involved fecking police force my fecking arse

Isn't the highest reported number of dog bites down to the "fluffly" golden retrievers etc?

It would only penalise legitimate owners who are responsible & look after the dogs. All mine are insured & chipped, regardless.

While I was living in Germany it was compulsory for you to have your dog insured, minimum 3rd party just to cover yourself in case of any mishaps. Similar attitude to skiing too - if you pelt down a hill & hit someone then it's your insurance that takes the whack.

It does strike me as yet another money maker for this ar$e government.

Anyone know Scotlands response to this?

Doesn't apply to Scotland.

I believe a back bencher is tabling a motion to give local councils more powers to deal with irresponsible dog owners in Scotland though.

The microchip part is feckin hysterical if you ask me.How the hell would you know if the dog who just mauled you for eg has a chip or not or the id number? Are you going to carry a scanner round and gather up your limbs and scan the dog for the chip number. Its fecking stupid tattoos would be a better id process.Or stop silly neds from having strong dogs give them a yorkie to try 1rst if they master that then a spaniel etc etc.I watched a friend of mine this week go for draggies across a ash pitch cos he wouldnt listen to what i was saying about my bitch and what she does and when she does it.Had to admit was funny as f**k took me about 20 mins to stop laughing. All that was because i ran ahead of her to go sort a disagreement between my dog and my foster

How many threads have now been started on this subject?

FFS get the facts right. This is only a consultation. Nothing is going to be law yet. It is sabre rattling for the election!

It wasn't that long ago we all had to have dog licences anyway.Get over it. Its a fact of life. Chavs or not dogs are now being used as weapons. Lets ignore it and it'll go away right?

Jeez

talk about the famously used expression by people on here "KNEE JERK" (brings a whole new meaning to the phrase when used by some)

Put brain in gear before opening gob!

Swampy
