Foxing Legends & Maths

Recommended Posts

Anybody out there any good at maths?I have just been reading the recent post about Foxing Legends and the "fact" that there are some single handed dogs out there that have killed "4 figure" numbers. If you have a 6 mounth season(26 weeks)and lamp 4 times a week then thats about 100 times a season you will be out.If this dog is as good as they say and does its job right first time every time,it can't have say more than 5 seasons at the top which gives you(100 days x 5 seasons)= 500 nights out.If this dog kills 2 out of every 3 foxes it is slipped on, that means its had 1500 runs over 5 seasons and killed 1000 foxes without gettig sick, lame or injured. Now thats my kind of dog.

I think people theorise to much on what dogs are capable of. there are times in hunting when evrything falls in to place, and of course luck. that being said a good dogman/hunter can make his own luck , knowing the land , fieldcraft , going to certain spots when the conditions are right for that place.

theres always talk on these sies about big bags , and people saying its not possible, but yet people have done it

the dog wasnt just catching 2 a night mate the lad travels alot of miles and top end was catching 6/8 in a night and averaging 2/4 a night. The dog was ran all year round and for about 7 seasons solid so now do the maths

Which was it-6 or 8 per night and you can't average 2/4,its either 2 or 4.As for hunting all year round, well - enough said.

Just asking but your saying this dogs have killed 4 a night 3 times a week or more etc etc when does this dog get time too heel its wounds because every dog gets bit at some time and a dog worked that much on foxes mush take a good bit now and then does not matter how good the dog is on a fox so when do you give this dog time till heel????
