Hollie 21
The thing is it won't be a small sum, it will be dependant on breed, bull breeds will be alot more.....................fine EXCEPT it will be the responsible dog owners who will be targeted, the people with happy, loving family staffies, the cocks who use them as a status symbol won't give a damn about insurance, rather than making people pay why don't they somehow STOP these idiots owning dogs in the 1st place.....................................because it is all about making £££ As has already been said if you already have your dog/s insured and microchipped then nothing will change. If you haven't then use some sense and get it done. Every week there is some poor sod posting cos their dog has gone missing or they cannot afford to have their dog treated and it ends up being pts. Mine are insured for accident only and both are microchipped There are better ways to control dangerous dogs, like stopping the owners from even having one rather than rob all responsible dog owners! Check your policy, probably find that there is liability insurance, if not change your policy. As for better ways to control, I asked for ideas/suggestions a couple of pages back, no answers were forthcoming. Edited March 9, 2010 by skellyb

Every dog micropchipped and registered on a database, stating breed, age sex etc, if you are stopped and your dog is un-registered, YOU (not the dog) gets in to trouble, like owning a car, if the dog changes ownership, so does the paperwork, if a dog attacks, it can be traced back to the owner! Cajunrules 8
Has anyone stopped to think that this would also be the final nail in the coffin of the foxhunt? There's no way on earth they would be able to afford insure an entire pack.. oh sorry, I'm assuming people on "the hunting life" might actually give a shit about hunting, my mistake. It is a serious issue and layabouts are part of the problem, people who have dogs and cannot afford to look after them.
Matt 160
Interesting that no-one on here is commenting on the dog thief issue. If all dogs were identifiable and registered to owners, then surely no-one would steal them?
