Sinn Féin - Acknowledges the Benefit of Country Sports to our Rural Economies

Countryside Alliance Ireland are delighted that Sinn Féin passed a motion at Saturday’s Ard Fheis not to ban coursing. This motion was tabled as a direct result of last year’s motion which had called on the party to ban coursing and fox hunting.

It is clearly evident that Sinn Féin acknowledges the support in rural Ireland for traditional rural occupations including hunting, fishing and hare coursing.

Pictured on the left (L-R) is TRM, Sinn Féin West Kerry and Martin Ferris, Sinn Fein Spokesperson on Agriculture and Fisheries of Sinn Féin North Kerry.

The motion also acknowledges the value that these pursuits bring to the local rural economies and the potential damage posed by an outright ban. Sinn Féin believes that all country sports should continue to be regulated to ensure sustainable wildlife management.

Probably the only cross community sport there is in Ireland bar rugby, even my grandma told me he went out with an RUC mans son rabbiting, and that was in the 40's/50's.

For any one who can not make it over please see the following link and sign the petition and add to your facebook account. For anyone in the 32 counties on the March 27th be there and join in the march to protect the future of our sport. Not only for us but for future generations.

http://www.risecampaign.ie/

Please spread the word of this event to any man or woman who respect the countryside whether they take part in fieldsports or not. Do not let the government rule our land and destroy our way of life.
