NORTH EAST COD FISHING

Recommended Posts

no i dont run the charters mate i just have a seahog @runswick bay

we go on the charters about 6 times a year to hit the rough ground and wrecks of this coast ,they dont have a age limit but some boats do a 3 hr trip for beginners so they get used to the boat as the skippers dont like going back in if someones sick, the trips are usually 10 hr from 40 to 50 quid depending on the skipper

I use to do three or four trips a summer out of Brid and Whitby. Last time was about 10 years ago though so I guess things have changed since then. Everybody used to fish heavy duty gear with big pirks and strings of muppets or similiar above. Has the techniques changed much now, I hear alot more talk of rubber lures now, are these used much off the yorkshire wrecks?

when there is big tides people tend to use big leads to hold the bottom but a good slack tide shads and braid is second to non

water has to be crystal clear though but if there is a bit of algea or a touch of colour you can bait a shad up with a tip of squid
