Attack Fell Terrier 864 Posted March 23, 2010 Report Share Posted March 23, 2010 The law that bans a certain dog , gun , way to hunt , how a man can protect himself is far from the correct approach to dealing with a perceived problem.. That I agree with, but we're talking about the human right to freedom, you know the basic human right to be a free thinking individual that has control over his own destiny and making certain breeds of dog illegal is ridiculous, but it's hardly an infringement on some ones rights as a human being is it. Everybody has the right to protect themselves over here, you don't have to be wielding a hand cannon to be able to defend yourself. We have seen un-reasoable laws come and go in various parts of the country. For instance it had been illegal for decades to have a gun, even in a home in the District of Columbia (our nations capitol) until last year - the ban was repealed about 1 year ago and guess what - home invasion crime went down 75% , gun crime and murder is also down significantly. Freedom of speech and the individual citizens right to vote brought the lifesaving repeal of this unreasonable law and put gun's back in the hands of law abiding citizens.... But people have the freedom of speech in this country to voice their opinion and protest against anything they're not happy with as well. So again I fail to see how this freedom of speech you keep going on about is something only Americans are entitled to? As for the repeal of the gun ban, before you start hailing it as a great success you've got to give it longer than a year to judge how well it actually has worked. When ever there is a law brought in to challenge a certain problem there usually is early success, but less than a year doesn't prove anything I'm afraid. And besides it's not the law that I think is the problem, allowing a responsible sensible person to own a gun isn't a bad thing at all, but what is the problem is this whole f*cked up fascination with weapons and gun culture you people have over there have that you evidently think makes you free!!! That's really the problem. The majority of you seem to think you need a gun to sort your problems out. Why? Civil rights in America are broad in that they are not set forth to limit or control the general population but are in place to preserve the individuals inalienable rights (AFT - inalienable is defined as god given) this is what makes free citizens. In the UK as in many countries the general population is referred to as subjects - This "legal" term is demeaning and is meant to be so. To beat the individual down and make an individual believe he has no god given rights. Under rule such as this an individual can be "subjected" to whatever the parlament/ government/crown/UN/NWO feels like dishing out - high tax's unreasonable narrow minded laws, police states , curfews, cant hunt rabbits this way or that or WHATEVER. HAHAHAHA You really are grasping at just about anything here to try and prove a point What a f*cking ridiculous thing to say. They are not beating me or anyone else down by referring to us as "subjects" what so ever. Yeah there's certain laws in place here that I think are ridiculous, as no doubt there is laws in your country you probably don't like, but again I don't see it as my human rights are being infringed at all or that I'm less Free. Our constitution in America is in place to prevent these things. Lately the Constitution has been slightly eroded/and attacked by liberal and moderate minded greedy politicians locally and nationally attempting to control the general population.In response the citizens have proven that the system does work, just by voting/legislating the gun ban repeal in our nations capitol , a legal step that can now be applied to other areas in the USA for instance the gun ban in Chicago is now being considered unconstitutional and will also most likely be repealed. Another huge American city that has a huge crime problem will now follow suit. I bet the crime will drop in Chicago also, when the people are allowed to protect them selves with guns the word gets out. The criminals don't care about the law (AFT) they will use guns to rob and kill regardless. An unarmed population is heaven for armed criminals. Then why is there not mayhem in this country? The problem lies with society and just what little your government is doing to correct it, or make it a better more peaceful place to live for everyone! It seems America is fine with allowing vast parts of it's country to degenerate, where so many people feel they have no other option but to commit crime in order to put food on the table and to pay the rent. But that's fine because the good stand up American has the right to bear arms so he'll just shoot these damned varmint or the perpetrator will be thrown in prison for 150 years. And thats the answer to the problem . I once had an idiot try to rob me with a small pistol, it was in a bad part of town I was working cable/construction and surveying a proposed job. He would have had my belongings and maybe my life at the point of his small poistol except I was armed and prepared to defend my self. When I pulled out my 1911 Colt .45 he shiat himself - literally. As it turned out he was a government transplanted criminal from Boston (another large city with a gun ban). He actually complained to the police that I was armed as they arrested him and took him away in an ambulance. It ended well - I did not kill the young punk, he was very lucky and so was I..... Killing a man is serious and one must be prepared for it if you want to defend your freedom from robbers with guns or other people who wish to beat you down and take from you. It is nothing like hunting rabbits or fox or deer! You must be prepared....... It is a real state of mind not a posed weak attempt to talk a criminal out of robbing you. You must be prepared...... Well I'm glad you come out of it unscathed, and whilst you've got such a problem with guns over there it'd wouldn't make sense to take a means of defence from the law abiding citizen. But like I said it seems it's only in your country in the western world where there seems to be such a huge problem with this sort of thing. And besides I still fail to see how this makes you free and me some prisoner? Thank you Poacher and Malt I think you get it.... No offense especially to you two - I am getting rather bored with this thread - arguing with hopeless individuals does tend to wear on a chap... SGS LOL What's hopeless is trying to have a sensible conversation with an irrational person, having a sensible conversation with an irrational American even more so. What you don't seem to realise is that just about everyone else looks and laughs at just how stupid the majority of you seem. Do not presume that we have laws here that restrict our freedoms and rights just based on one poor piece of legislation. Many of the hunting laws here have been introduced because we don't have the amount of game that could be sustained. If every man jack went out and killed everything just for the ego boost of blowing a bunny to pieces with a colt 45 there would be nothing left. Americans are obsessed with guns. Obsessed with size and generally obsessed with themselves. There is nothing worse than being preached to by someone whose basis of argument is so blinkered. It is time that america took a good long hard look in the mirror and see themselves for what they are. What happened in New Orleans after Katrina? Look at what has happened to Detroit? I doubt that the people there would side with your argument! Open your eyes and your mind and you might learn. The gun is not the answer to everything.............or possibly anything.
