I'm not saying you can't get good dogs from lurcher x lurcher, just that you get litter wastage, which can be avoided.

iv just sold a litter of lurcher x lurcher pups they were all cracking pups there on my profile if you want a look atb turbotyke

Not seen a pup yet that doesn't look cracking.

sorry should have put there was no wastage all gone to working homes and all new owners are moor then happy with them atb jenna

What I must admit is that what is wastage to one might not be wastage to someone else, I bred a few litters in my time, alot were saluki greyhound crosses, some turn out like greyhounds some like salukis and some like saluki greys, which is not to bad, but if you're breeding collie or bull crosses, some folk would consider to much collie or bull to be wastage.

I have seen a lot more wastage in f1x bred lurchers than others but am amazed [bANNED TEXT] people put greyhounds over them to try and rectify it.atb dell

last 4 litters oflurcher to lurcher ive seen were as level as you like, variation in coat was about the only difference.just a matter of common sense, keeping similar breeds in both parents, better chance of both parents being workers as well.once whippet blood enters the equation and you aint after little 'uns size an substance can be difficult to predict.like owt else i guess,'you pays ya money ya takes ya choice'.as long as they both workers thats half the battle.stick in.

Hmmmm; A good thread 'till the arguments started ! I have a "Lurcher x Lurcher"; Beddy/Grey x Deer/Grey-Whippet/Grey; and also have an F1 Deer/Grey..Is one better than the other ? I suppose it's what you want from your dog. My "Lurcher!" is a good "all round dog" but the 1st cross was brought in for a specific purpose. Of course, there are Lurcher to Lurcher crosses that will do what you want, but the old "Hybrid Vigour" takes a bit of beating, for certain tasks !

Cheers.
