scotty2306 37
hi a question a mate of mine has bin asked to cross his lurcher to another lurcher am not totally in favour as i believe they loose a gear and some whit is there any people out there that like this kind of x yes worker to worker sounds good off 2 dogs that can do everything,i have a lucher x greyhound and she is vert fast but dont have the stamina for a good bag.my first and last 3/4 bred imo lurcher to lurcher you cant beat them Quote Link to post
its ma baw 51
I dunno about you but I like to know what's in my dogs. Plenty of racy looking mongrels kicking about... If your going to keep every pup off the litter then hey ho but who's gonna take the dross? Quote Link to post
romany52 313
The proplem with lurcher to lurcher is uneven litters, for instance if you cross a colie x greyhound with a colie x greyhound some pups will be colie greyhound but some will be nearly all colie and some nearly all greyhound. So wat would be the ideal dog to put over say a f1x collie/grey bitch.I admit they can be a lot of variation in a litter of lurcher to lurcher bred pups but as long as theirs running dogs ie saluki deerhound grey in the crosses good pups can be produced.atb dell Quote Link to post

When it no longer looks like a lurcher perhaps? It all boils down to what you need. If you want a dog to catch ferreted rabbits and the odd squater, a f*****g terrier cross will do. If you want soething to take rabbits and the odd heart pulsing well you know then you want something with atleast a bit of leg perhaps. In saying that, I remember a wee scraggy looking bedlington cross bitch one of the mates had when we were younger. Didn't look much, bit of a pet. Infact, he ad to beg his mother to use it, fed nothing but tinned dog food but by f**k could it catch a hare. Rabbits, piece of piss and you wouldn't have given this dog a second look so alas, there isn't any fast and steady rules, a good dog is a good dog. I think a lot if it is like everything else, if it has the heart for the job but like everything else including people, if its bred from workers, it'll probably become a worker. Quote Link to post

For an f1 lurcher I would either use pure running dog or longdog x . Quote Link to post
