semi auto or o/u 12 bore

hi all,

do most people use a semi auto for pigeon shooting or could they be used as an all rounder?

where as the over/under seems to be most peoples choice as an all rounder!

would any one use a semi auto as an all rounder?

use a s/s myself pal and love it tried o/u just could not get on with it,would never use a semi-auto for game,if i cant hit it in two it deserves to get away,(happens regularly lol)love a bit of tradition,although certainly not everones cuppa-tea

sorry i forgot to mension a s/s mate as most people seem to opt for the o/u,but ive got a 20b o/u which i will be selling,and im torn between the semi auto or an o/u 12 bore as my all rounder,

a semi is great foer pigeon,duck,geese etc.( a mate has one and its class to shoot)

i use a s/s for everything bud get on better with them than o/u but thats just me i guess.

a side by side or and over/under is a very good sporting gun. if you need to use it for pest control get a semi. after you have 10 shots and 8 kills, you will see why a semi is better. guess thats an FAC semi tho clint, huh?

I would buy a semi over an O/U if you don't intend to take it to a driven shoot, personally i don't see a problem in using a semi for game, but others don't like it semis are much softer shooting, just as easy to clean if you choose an inertia operated design such as Benelli, and in some cases lighter.

I'm struggling with this!!

 

Just what is the issue here, a semi is a perfectly excellent all rounder (as is a O/U) I often use mine for clay/skeet/DTL etc, etc as well as field...you don't "have" to put 2 in the mag!!

 

To be honest the only issue I see anywhere is TRADITION/ETIQUETTE, and I am not having a go at tradition!
