Deben ferret finders

I'm looking at getting a mk1 ferret finder off eBay can anyone tell me why some are 15ft and some are 8ft

Hi mate the 15ft and 8ft business is thier max working depth . For the life of me I can't understand why they done this other than for commercial reasons because a 15ft locator would cover all eventualities .

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean are there two model mk1's an 8ft and a 15'???

One model works to a max depth of 8ft and the other model to a max depth of 15ft

the mk1 only works to a depth of 8ft... its the mk3 that works to a depth of 15ft, but how ever if u have a mk3 collor and a mk1 locator u will be able to locate ur ferret upto 15ft ... but if u have a mk3 locator and a mk1 collor u wouldnt find it at all... hope this helps

you can get a mk1 15ft and an 8ft the collars are a bit differant the 15ft collars take two batterys. you can tell the diffarance on the boxes because one go's up to 15ft on the wheel and the other only go's to 8ft

this guys going to get confussed by these replies, the mk1 was first out as 8ft, then the upgraded 15ft came out, as stated, the 15ft mk1 takes two batteries,

 

as time went on the mk2 came out (dont touch with a bargepole)

and now we have the mk3 and mk3m

If you know your ground you should know how deep the burrows go have a look at the dials they read 8 foot or 15 foot and get the one that suits you

There are 2 types of mk1, 8 foot and 15 foot, I have both.

You'll want to go for the 15ft everytime.

 

This is not because you'll ever have to (or want to, at any rate) dig to 15ft. But, 15ft is the area you'll get a responce to the location of a ferret within. Meaning that a ferret can be anywhere within 15ft of you to pick up the signal. The 8ft, is obviouly half of that, meaning you'll have to twice the amount of walking to pick the signal up!.

 

When you've got a large warren, you'll be thankful of that.

Just to correct an earlier message - If you use the mk3 Deben collar with the mk1 15ft Deben box it will only locate to 11ft.

How will he know how deep the burrows are if he's not had a locator?
