Bango 0
I looked at the CZ and there are great reports from all. Looked at quite a few of the .17HMR available...... in the end I went for the Browning T-Bolt synthetic stock. It comes with 2 x 10 shot mags, the 2nd mag is stored in the end of the butt. Just waiting for the FAC to be posted back now, then I can go and pick it up. Quote Link to post
ace32 4
i like the cz,s,but you dont need the extra weight of a varmint model, just alot of extra weight for a little gun,oki doki, ian Quote Link to post
langouroux 14
choice of caliber is totally personal...i dont like the .17hmr as it is very noisey and cost alot if your banging a lot of rounds through it and you have to clean it regularly. the .22lr is cheap as chips to run and you never clean the barrel. but i will say this if i was to buy another .22lr i would buy second hand, if i was to buy a .17hmr then i would buy new. Treacle Trackpad 6
You won't go far wrong with the CZ. Reasonably priced second hand ones are easy to come by, they're bomb proof and as accurate as the more expensive rifles. Edit: If you go for the .17HMR varmint, make sure you get the 16" barrel as the 20" version adds a lot of weight. Edited March 5, 2010 by Treacle Trackpad Quote Link to post
clint 45
Maybe 222, 220 swift, 22hornet rifle is good for you, for 40-60gr loads, good for bunny & fox plinker. Quote Link to post

Historically rimfire barrels were long so as to take open sights. Now there is very little use of open sights there is little requirement to have a longer barrel which adds weight and can be unweildy, especially in a vehicle. RF powder is completely burnt at around the 12" point, maybe a bit longer in the case of the HMR, meaning little or no decrease in FPS, and a good mod will reduce any increase in bark. After that, it's personal choice Quote Link to post
