SeanTheHawker 0
Out early this morning hoping to get rolf a few rabbits and get a friends bird enetered. rolf weighed in at 1lb 6.5oz, we got to the farm about 11 oclock and headed out with my mates bird first, didnt see much, one rabbit bolted but went back in again, the bird went upto a tree and we struggled to get him back, so we headed back to the car and put him in the box, took up rolf and headed off again. first set. rolf had a crackign flight at a rabbit hit it and got a bit of a tumble, before it oulled itself of to get down a hole. next set we done a rabbit ran about 10 yards out in the feild, rolf chased, and teh rabbit didnt know what to do, as rolf got closer, it decided to head back to the set, but it was to late, and rolf had it at the hole, managed to drag it out bare handed, with rolfs feet attached to it. threw a chick leg aside, and carried on. as we approached the next row of sets rolf started bating, i looked round and seen what he was after, slipped him at a rabbit that was hugging some thick cover, he went down after it, but didnt really have a chance. so we got down to the sets and the first set produced a lovely long slip, but i was late in slipping, as me or rolf didnt see it untill my mate told out and i approched the other side of teh ditch. rolf hit it on the wire, held it for a bit, but eventually got knocked off. next set up and rolf had a quick flight at a rabbit that headed back down the hole, decided to let him sit on the fence post anyhow, and a few seconds later it bolted again. this time a nice long slide down the the last set, rolf caught it near the hole, and had it fully under control this time, with a good head hold. dispatched the rabbit and hunted on. approachign the next ditch a rabbit got up from under my mates feet, but i didnt notice it, so rolf was slipped very late, but still had a good pumping flong flight at it, but chased it into a set, probually the best light of the day.next ditch we done, was nice and open, I could cover both sides. first set produced 2 rabbits but the didnt have far to go to cut at a right angle to the next ditch. continued up to the next set. ferret took his time bolting these ones. the first one bolted cleanly, and rolf managed to hit it 3 times! but just couldnt get it under control. a few minutes later another bolted, but went back down. got rolf back on the fist and waited. rabbit bolted again and of rolf went, great flight down the ditch, and caught it by the head. dispatched this one, and decided to call it a day. and try the other bird now. we took the other bird out, managed to put a couple of rabbits out in front of him, but he showed very little interest. we decided to pretend to put a ferret down and then pulled one of the rabbits rolf caught earlier out. gave the bird a good fed up and then headed home, not forgetting to stop for a bit of lunch on the way . heres the trophy shot lol Quote Link to post
