Anyone heard of

My FEO wants a letter from any other FAC holder to say they think I'm safe. I don't have much experiece to speak of (but I think I know my stuff) and they don't do mentoring clauses. Is this normal?

Just had my fire arms license opened up, they wanted a letter from my mate who I shoot with who has had an open ticket for 5 years to support my request.

just had mine renewed today wanted names and dates of birth of everybody in the house and name of two people i know " he said will i put down your referees and i said i dont go shooting with them so i had to give two shooting buddies . I cant rember all that the last time i got my firearms renewed ??

i had a supporting letter with me first FAC to mate...that was 18 months ago now, i have an open licence now.

alough when i applied for sgc feo asked about enyone i could shoot with gave him my mates name he said he will contact him i then thought surely he cant disscuss my application with other people mabye just a test to try catch you out abit some of em funny breed

If no or little experience, or new to stalking, using firearm ,proof for safe & reliabilty maybe need.

Farmer here alway been asked ,for refree for new stalker for deer, by police. because some men have new rifle or no in shoot club, or 1st time men have rifle.

Hi just had my 17hmr passed , I`v hade a FAC (air ) 3 years shooting since I was 7 was told I needed a mentor as well ? but was told by FAO if I didnt have a mentor then I wouldnt have my ticket passed !!!

It isn't normal and there is no legal requirement for it...but it is becoming more and more common....I have had requests of mentoring or letters from two guys in the last few months whoo were both applying for rimfires and had been told they needed this!!

 

Both the same FEO as well in Thames Valley!!

Thats not normal no. In all honesty, I can't think why on earth they would need everyone else's DOBs and Names. If questioned, no doubt they will use the "Anti-Terrorism" reason though, I have no doubt of that.
