Magpie Problem

Hi Folks

 

I feckin hate magpie's and the first thing i noticed when i moved here about a year ago is the vast

amount of them right on my door step

 

I must see about 30 every morning....it drives me crazy

 

So i'v done a bit of investigating and have managed to locate where they are roosting ....

In a Strip of tree's right in the centre of the village

 

I sneaked in there last night with the pcp :ph34r: but theres still too many leaves on trees and ye cant siloette the feckers so i'm thinkin about other methods of control i.e traps or something

 

now i know larson traps and ladder traps are sucsesfull but i fear these would be vandelised does anyone know of any other traps that would be dicreat or even a meathod to control there numbers ??

Nailed a maggie myself, yesterday. Used my own methods ..... Only bugger is; I got up late and the Dogs have complete freedom to get out onto my ground. They got to it before me :whistle:

 

Was looking out the window earlier this morning. Watched a pair of the b*stards work along the hedge bank beside my track. I'll have those two next

 

Everyone else noticing how the things are already pairing up?

Here, Ricky? Don't wish to break your f*ckin heart, mate, but guess what? I've just come away from the local farmers store. I went in there, all shady and shy. Just to ask and be told, " Not these days we don't! ". Only for the guy to turn round and say, " Alpha Chlorolose? Sure! Do ye want the big tub or the smaller, concentrated one? "

 

Then (it gets even better!) he's pulled out these two tubs, straight off the open shelf, and I've stared in utter astonishment! F*ckin label reads, simply: " Crow and Pigeon Poison " I'm like; 'No Shit?! '. These boys don't f*ck about! Perfectly Legal, over here!

 

I'll be picking some up presently ....!

I wouldnt like to try it as i dont want to kill any non target species but i cant beileve you can buy that over the counter !

 

I paunched a couple of rabbits and left them in a field on the border of the village on thursday had a look yesterday and the black and white b*****ds where all over them

 

went down this morn and shot 11 of the feckers !

 

paunched another couple whilst i was there and i'm goin back down at first light to wait on them

 

In case you havnt already noticed i really do loath magpies

Got a tub in my bag as we speak, mate! Pension day today so I strolled along and bought some! I must admit - as I said to the bloke in the shot - " Walking in and plainly asking for a tub of Alpha C., Crow and Pigeon Poison " makes me feel like I'm walking into a british tobacconists and simply asking for a half ounce of Black! " . It was fantastic and memorable craic, just doing it! We were both laughing!

 

I'll be trying various tricks with the stuff now. I'll let ye all know how I get on. Only; I'm completely Off Line at home again now. So I can't post pictures and am extremely limited in when I can even get in here and how long I can stay. Today I'm pushing the boat out. I'll keep shots stored on my PC though and should be able to show ye some interesting stuff in due course
