ferretville 69
THe day the empire started to deminish is the day britain started its fall and demise . Granted back through the years we came we saw we conquered but history repeats itself somewere along the lines. Some will argue we are reaping what we sowed others will say it is a back lash against those in power and strenghth. ALL powers need another supporter or allie (excuse the spelling) to coherse with there ideas or plans. But through time and history it is a repition of itself. Some say the weak ownly get weaker and the strong get stronger true but at a price. History will repeat itself its a conveyor belt that never ends and will continue . Every country wether weak or strong has a link somewere along the line that links us all. Forf there is no country that can survive solo it has to be a universal commitment . Polar oppasits but uniqely drawn together you need 1 and the other the weak and the strong for if you only had strong then there would be no weak and vice vesa . What amazes me in this world is when there is a disaster how the world can unite and be at peace but for the rest of the time it is at war. But who am i to say out just had 10 pints FV
steveS.Yorks 161
i'm no geography expert but how many miles are the falklands form england and how far are they from argentina How far from Belfast is Dublin............... well mate i don't consider belfast to be british, as far as i'm concerned its just another part of ireland. britain took over lots of countrys by having superiour armed forces, how would you boys like it the yanks decided to take over britain (they have a superiour army to yours) this is not shit sturing, i'm being 100% honest here lads and i'm genuinely curious to hear your opinions I dont agree with indiscriminate acts of violence against civilians,it should be aimed at the people who are directly responsible for unfair occupation/oppression. Im going to be brutally honest[i dont expect this to be popular] The Thatcher government was an evil organisation,Thatcher was an evil woman[maybe still is] They decimated my area in the 1980's and i was sorry when the Brighton bomb failed to kill her,she undoutably deserves the title of murderer herself[belgrano to name one example]. All leaders are dishonest, maybe Castro,Ghandi and a few others were not? but its a short list,at the end of the day its a case of the rich exploiting the poor for some kind of gain, they just create divisions between ordineary people to suit their needs. Theres a far more serious threat looming on the horizon than whats already gone imo.

jasper65 6
well mate i don't consider belfast to be british, as far as i'm concerned its just another part of ireland. britain took over lots of countrys by having superiour armed forces, how would you boys like it the yanks decided to take over britain (they have a superiour army to yours) this is not shit sturing, i'm being 100% honest here lads and i'm genuinely curious to hear your opinions there is a difference!! the Falklands is our anyway so we have a right to defend it, if the Yanks decided to invade our country then its no different than when Iraq invaded Kuwait which was considered a invasion of Hostile forces... I suppose the simple answer is if they did we'll just have to kick their arse into touch ..........

The people of NI were offered a referendum on whether they wanted to remain part of the UK or be renunited with the republic in '73. For whatever reasons the republicans boycotted the vote, and the result ended up with a resounding 90 something % wanting to stay part of the union. I don't know the figures off the top of my head, but the figures for the union included the votes of a 1/4 of the Catholic population. The situation there is not cut and dry. The good Friday agreement also makes provisions for the discussion of reunification, but only with the consent of the population of NI. It's the same with the British overseas territories, they all have the right to self determination under a UN resolution. If they no longer wish to be part of the UK, they don't have to. They're not ruled directly by the UK in any case, they have their own legal systems and governments. Edited March 4, 2010 by maltenby

Just because people say they consider themselves Irish doesnt mean they are anti-british,just means the feel an affilliation with what they believe to be there native land. People are trying too move forward where as guys like with your narrow minded opinions, are trapped in the past.
Bosun11 537
My opinions are that as we own the islands then we have a right to defend them. Sorry, a little off subject, can anyone remember, not long after the war, that the Falklands had a fox boom due to the fact that no one had been controlling numbers and John Park sent two terriers (a black and a red) to help out in this area. It was in a sporting publication but I can't remember which?

Man for man we are the best fighting force in the world, the best trained and disciplined. Get a hundred of our best and put them against a hundred of any army in the worlds best and plonk them in any enviroment ie, Artic, Jungle, Desert, City ect and let them go at it. I know who my money would be on. that may be true mate but not many wars are fought man to man these days, its some computer programer launching shit from a long way away
